The Capital Area Muslim Bar Association

June 04, 2018

The Capital Area Muslim Bar Association (CAMBA) recently awarded Washington, D.C. Litigation & Trial partner Abid Riaz Qureshi with the organization’s annual Impact Award. CAMBA is a culturally driven group focused on fostering a sense of community for Muslim Americans in the legal world. Qureshi was recognized with the Impact Award at the annual CAMBA iftar (evening meal during Ramadan in which Muslims end their daily fast at sunset) in recognition of his unwavering commitment to advancing justice. CAMBA Secretary Juvaria Khan, who presented the honor to Qureshi, noted that he has shown himself to be an incredible role model within the American Muslim legal community. Qureshi, the former Global Chair of Latham’s Pro Bono Committee, has demonstrated his dedication to securing equal access to legal services. He has worked on numerous asylum cases as well as litigated a case that allowed a Muslim-American film production company to display its comedic advertisements on the NYC subway system.

Qureshi is an experienced trial lawyer who has served as lead counsel in numerous trials before federal and state courts throughout the country. He has represented clients in state and federal courts (at the district and appellate levels), national and international arbitral tribunals, and before state and federal regulators.
