Los Angeles corporate partner Julian Kleindorfer and San Francisco/Silicon Valley finance partner Haim Zaltzman are among a select group of lawyers named California Trailblazers in a new report published by The Recorder (American Lawyer Media) that honors “professionals who have made a significant mark on the practice, policy and technological advancement of their practice.”
Kleindorfer was particularly cited for advising real estate investment trusts (REITs), a key sector in the California economy, within his diverse corporate practice. His published profile noted that Kleindorfer “has helped redefine the assets that qualify as REITs, persuading the Internal Revenue Service to allow not just office buildings, retail space and apartment complexes, but also data centers, electric transmission lines and even private prisons.”
Zaltzman was profiled for building an industry-leading debt financing practice advising high-growth life sciences and technology companies and the lenders and investors who invest in such companies. The Recorder noted that Zaltzman and his team handle "100 to 120 transactions a year, with an annual growth rate averaging about 25 percent for the past five years,” advising both emerging companies and their investors.
