In its eighth annual survey, India Business Law Journal has once again named Latham & Watkins as a “Top 10” foreign law firm for India-related work.

Latham’s globally recognized India Practice comprises more than 50 lawyers across its offices around the world. Hailed by India Business Law Journal as a “contender for the capital markets crown,” the firm’s capabilities include both US and UK listings and advising on high-yield and investment-grade bond deals governed by New York and English law.

Among its achievements in 2013, India Business Law Journal highlighted Latham’s involvement as an international legal adviser to the underwriters on Just Dial’s IPO and as an adviser to Vedanta Resources on its US$1.7 billion high-yield bond offering in 2013. The publication also praised Latham for working with a leading global business process management company on its secondary offering of American depositary shares. According to India Business Law Journal, such efforts underscore the important role of international legal advisers in India as the country transitions to a new government.

The report drew on an analysis of more than 600 law firms from every continent that recorded transactions or cases with an Indian connection over the past 12 months. Conclusions were based on thorough research, extensive editorial experience and correspondence with corporate counsel and Indian law firms, as well as a broad network of contacts.
