Latham & Watkins has been chosen as
M&A Firm of the Year, Licensing & Collaboration Firm of the Year, and
France Firm of the Year, while partner Eveline Van Keymeulen was recognized as
Advisory Lawyer of the Year and won Impact Deal of the Year at the prestigious Europe
LMG Life Sciences Awards 2021. The firm saw off strong competition from firms
who have performed exceptionally at both local and national levels.
LMG Life Sciences Awards Researcher John
Harrison said of Latham’s wins: “Latham & Watkins has been advising on a
vast array of the top M&A transactions in the European life sciences
sector. They have also been advising
start-ups on equity investments from some of the largest life sciences companies
and were involved with some of the most complex licensing agreements for
treatments of cancer, rare diseases and COVID-19.”
“Eveline Van Keymeulen joined the firm as a
partner and is well-known for advising companies on key strategic policy and
legal issues relating to EU regulatory frameworks. A major highlight from 2020 for Eveline was
her success before the European Court of Justice on behalf of KanaVape. This impactful work saw a landmark decision,
declaring CBD to not be classified as a narcotic. A decision that goes against the previously
held view by the European Commission.
Eveline’s successful argument has opened up the use of CBD throughout
the EU.”
