Singapore Office Managing Partner Named “All Star” in Energy Sector

The Asian Lawyer, an American Lawyer sibling publication, has named Latham & Watkins Singapore Office Managing Partner Stephen McWilliams an “All-Star” honoree in the Energy sector. The award recognizes McWilliams as a go-to lawyer in the energy industry, with a notably successful track record advising on "highly complex matters in which there is no easy blueprint to follow."   • Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy Hydropower Project, Laos– advising Export-Import Bank of Thailand and the commercial bank lenders, in the US$1.0425 billion financing of the Xe-Pian Xe-Namnoy hydropower project, the first major investment by Korean sponsors in the country
  • Uch II Power Project, Pakistan - advising International Power and the project company, as sponsor/borrower, in the US$390 million financing of the Uch II power project in Pakistan, the first power project to successfully close under Pakistan’s new power policy 
  • PNG LNG Project, Papua New Guinea – advising export credit agencies and commercial lenders in the US$14 billion financing of the Papua New Guinea liquefied natural gas project, the largest ever resource development and foreign investment in Papua New Guinea
  • Jurong Aromatics Petrochemicals Project, Singapore – advising Jurong Aromatics Corporation Pte. Ltd in the US$2.63 billion financing and development of the Jurong Aromatics petrochemicals project in Singapore, the most complex petrochemicals project financing ever undertaken in Asia
