Three Latham & Watkins attorneys have been selected as “Top Women Lawyers” in California for 2011 by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals, which compiles an annual list ”to highlight the work of talented women lawyers… [who] are taking the lead role in large matters.” The partners include Ursula Hyman in Los Angeles, Katherine Lauer in San Diego and Karen Silverman in San Francisco.

Hyman, the Chair of the firm’s Public and Tax-Exempt Finance Practice Group, was particularly recognized for her representation of the underwriters of the $615 million LBJ tollroad in Dallas, Texas that involved federal, state and international investors as well as the tax-exempt bonds. Lauer, Global Co-Chair of the firm’s Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Group, was recognized for her high-profile, national practice representing hospital systems and other health care providers, medical device companies and pharmaceutical firms involved in criminal investigations and civil False Claims Act matters, as well as other litigation and regulatory matters. Silverman, a member of the Global Antitrust and Competition Practice Group, was cited for her successful representation of Lundbeck Inc., formerly Ovation Pharmaceuticals Inc., in antitrust lawsuits filed by the Federal Trade Commission and the State of Minnesota challenging Lundbeck’s acquisition of an exclusive license to manufacture and sell NeoProfen in the United States. Silverman was also recognized for her representation of Live Nation in investigations related to its $889 million merger with Ticketmaster.
