Latham & Watkins Advises Erick Thohir and Trinugraha Thohir Sports in Sale of D.C. United

Latham's multi-jurisdictional corporate deal team represented the seller in the deal.

D.C. United announced that an entity controlled by Jason Levien has completed the acquisition of Erick Thohir's ownership interest in the organization. D.C. United’s Co-Chairman and CEO Jason Levien will remain in his leadership role and will make an additional investment in the club. He is joined by incoming D.C. United Co-Chairman Stephen Kaplan, as well as several other incoming co-owners and advisory board members including Al Tylis, Ed Shapiro, Robert Hernreich, Romie Chaudhari and Daniel Gilbert. 

Latham & Watkins represented the seller, Trinugraha Thohir Sports PTE, Ltd., in the transaction with a multi-jurisdictional corporate deal team led by counsel Michael Kuh (New York), with partners Tim Hia (Singapore) and Adam Sullins (Century City), and associates Eric Kaufman (New York) and Dolynn Yap (Singapore). Advice was also provided on tax matters by partner Cheryl Coe (Washington, DC), with associate Gaston Soler (Washington, DC), and on anti-trust matters by counsel Sydney Smith (Washington, DC) and partner Jason Cruise (Washington, DC).
