Arrival of Steve Curtis further enhances the firm's infrastructure and real estate capabilities in the City.

November 28, 2019

Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Steve Curtis will join the firm’s London office as a partner in the Finance Department. Highly regarded in his field, Curtis’ practice focuses on a broad range of structured finance transactions, with particular expertise in the regulated utility, infrastructure and real estate sectors and in complex corporate securitisations.

He has significant experience advising on structured and securitised financings of hotels, logistics, hospitality and other real estate assets, real estate backed loan portfolios, regulated utility and infrastructure businesses in the UK and throughout Europe. He regularly counsels clients on bank lending, US and European private placements, public debt offerings and liability management exercises in the corporate, infrastructure, and real estate markets.

“Steve brings a fantastic blend of expertise and talent that will be of great value to our London and European practices,” said Jay Sadanandan, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in London. “His track record advising on ground-breaking transactions enhances our existing capabilities, and we are delighted to welcome him to our growing London team.”

“With Steve’s arrival we are uniquely placed to advise all participants in the infrastructure and real estate finance market – funds, private equity sponsors, investment banks, and ratings and debt advisors – on their complete structuring and execution requirements, from M&A processes to permanent debt refinancing in the bank, institutional debt, and capital markets,” commented Sanjev Warna-kula-suriya, Global Chair of Latham’s Structured Finance and Securitization Practice.

Curtis is the latest high-profile infrastructure specialist to join the firm in London, following the arrival of Brendan Moylan and Conrad Andersen. Moylan and Andersen focus on advising infrastructure funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, and pension plans on a variety of complex domestic and international transactions across the lifecycle of infrastructure assets, from acquisitions and financings to refinancings and disposals.

“We are excited by the opportunities we see to establish a top-tier infrastructure practice in London and Europe to complement our existing M&A, finance, and project finance practices around the world,” added Scott Gottdiener, Global Chair of the firm’s Finance Department. “Furthermore, Steve’s skillset will complement the firm’s capabilities in complex real estate financing and his market-leading experience of corporate, whole business securitisations will be an excellent fit with the firm’s already highly regarded structured finance practice.”

Curtis joins Latham & Watkins from Clifford Chance.
