Latham & Watkins is pleased to announce that Neil Ferguson has joined the London office as a partner in the Corporate Department and member of the Real Estate Practice. Ferguson represents investment banks, funds, and private equity firms on a variety of complex real estate transactions.

Ferguson has more than 20 years’ experience advising on joint ventures, fund formations, and mergers and acquisitions with a particular focus on real estate, real estate backed loans, and nonperforming loan portfolios.

“Neil’s experience and reputation as one of the market’s leading transactional real estate lawyers ties neatly with our existing real estate, real estate finance, and private equity capabilities in London. He will add further breadth to our practice in London, and we are delighted to welcome him to the team,” said Jay Sadanandan, Office Managing Partner of Latham & Watkins in London.

“The advance of global real estate private equity funds in recent years has led to the aggregation of real estate as an asset class,” said Jeremy Trinder, Global Co-Chair of Latham’s Real Estate Practice. “Neil’s arrival underlines our commitment to building one of the world’s preeminent transactional real estate practices, equipped to advise clients across the full spectrum of traditional real estate, real estate finance and structured finance, and corporate and M&A real estate matters.”

“Many of the market’s leading global private equity firms are today running platforms with multiple strategies ranging across the origination, trading and restructuring of real estate backed debt, direct real estate investing, joint ventures and infrastructure,” added David Walker, Vice Chair of Latham & Watkins’ Global Corporate Department. “We are excited by the opportunities we see to further expand our market-leading private equity capability in this fast-moving, dynamic sector.”

Ferguson joins the firm from Jones Day’s London office. He graduated from Oxford University before completing his Legal Practice Course at the College of Law, qualifying as a Solicitor of England & Wales in 1998.
