Mohammad Akhavannik is an associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Latham & Watkins where he is a member of the firm’s Data & Technology Transactions Practice.

Mr. Akhavannik regularly represents public and private companies, investment institutions, and private venture capital firms on the structuring and negotiation of complex technology-related commercial transactions and acquisitions focusing on intellectual property exploitation, licensing, development, customization, and commercialization.

Mr. Akhavannik also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing the elderly with wills in partnership with the Legal Counsel for the Elderly (LCE), working with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) in order to represent immigrant children, and tenant representation in housing matters.

Prior to joining Latham, Mr. Akhavannik was an IP litigation associate representing major semiconductor companies with ITC and district court litigation matters. Additionally, Mr. Akhavannik was a patent examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office. Mr. Akhavannik co-authored Robot Memetics: A Space Exploration Perspective that provides a perspective on the development and evolution of intelligent robots and robotic communities.
