Alex Pankiv is an associate in the London office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Banking Practice.

Mr. Pankiv’s practice focuses on debt financing, leveraged acquisition finance, and real estate finance. Prior to joining Latham, Alex practiced with several leading UK and international law firms where he gained a range of experience acting for some of the largest financial institutions, alternative fund lenders, and private equity and real estate funds. Alex’s professional experience also includes working as an in-house lawyer for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, where he was primarily focused on infrastructure and emerging markets finance matters.

Mr. Pankiv’s representative transactions include acting for:

  • A US alternative fund lender in connection with the term and unitranche financing of the acquisition of an IP business portfolio by a European private equity fund*
  • A leading UK private equity fund in connection with (i) the financing of the acquisition of a global trust service provider; and (ii) the leveraged bolt-on acquisition and working capital financing of the fund’s wealth management and investment advisory portfolio business*
  • A British designer clothing brand in connection with the LBO financing of the brand’s business by a South African clothing retail group*
  • An asset management branch (acting as lender) of a leading German bank in connection with (i) the mezzanine real estate financing of commercial properties in France; (ii) the investment real estate financing of a property in central London; and (iii) the acquisition of commitments under the existing real estate financing facilities originally made available by a UK bank for the acquisition of several British supermarkets*
  • A leading European real estate fund on a number of finance transactions in connection with (i) an investment and development real estate finance transaction relating to a property in central London; (ii) an acquisition of a hotels portfolio in central London; (iii) the acquisition of an investment property in west London*
  • A British bank in connection with the acquisition of the real estate loan facilities to a UK retail and leisure asset manager originally extended by a leading global private equity fund*
