Profile Experience

Alysha M. Naik is an associate in the New York office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the firm’s Litigation & Trial Department and Complex Commercial Litigation Practice.

Ms. Naik represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of complex civil and securities matters, including at trial. She also advises defendants in government investigations.

Ms. Naik also has an active pro bono practice, which has included briefing and oral argument on an immigration appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit as a third-year associate. A month after Ms. Naik’s oral argument, the Third Circuit granted the client’s petition for review in a 2-1 decision, reversing the rulings below and remanding the case for further proceedings. In doing so, the Third Circuit also identified the lower courts’ actions that violated the client’s due process rights.

Ms. Naik was recognized as a New York Metro Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2020 and 2021. She is currently on the steering committee of the firm's Multicultural Promotion & Attainment Coalition, and a former NY leader and current co-global leader of the Asian & Middle Eastern Lawyers Group. Ms. Naik received her BA in International Relations from Brown University. She received her JD from Michigan Law School cum laude, earned Honors in Legal Practice, and was the executive development editor of Michigan Law Review Volume 115.

Ms. Naik’s experience includes advising:

  • UBS, securing a US$1.04 billion bench trial judgment in a decade-long breach of contract dispute against hedge funds affiliated with Highland Capital Management.
  • Virgin Media, Inc., a media and telecommunications company, in a civil suit filed in New Jersey Superior Court by Musashi, LLC and W.R. Huff Asset Management Co. LLC. The trial team obtained summary judgment disposing of US$1 billion in claims for lost profits under an indemnity agreement. The remaining equitable claims were settled on favorable terms during trial.
