Andrew Halliwell is an associate in the Hong Kong office of Latham & Watkins and a member of the Litigation & Trial Department.

Mr. Halliwell has a broad practice, with a particular emphasis on complex, cross-border and high-value disputes, and a specialism in international arbitration. He regularly advises clients in relation to complex international arbitrations in different countries and under a variety of rules, including ICC, UNCITRAL, HKIAC, and SIAC.

Mr. Halliwell’s recent experience includes advising:

  • A major conglomerate in Malaysia in two Hong Kong arbitrations against a PRC company arising from joint venture agreement to set up car production facilities in China
  • A major Chinese online game company in two arbitrations, seated in Singapore, against a Korean online game company
  • A key OEM manufacturer of ATM machines in southern China against Hong Kong arbitrations brought by a Japanese ATM manufacturer
  • A major Chinese real estate company in a multi-million dollar arbitration in Hong Kong against a BVI company controlled by two Chinese individuals relating to a large real estate development in Nanjing, China
  • Bondholders in relation to sovereign bonds and related US court proceedings
  • Liquidators in relation to claims brought by numerous purported creditors of a company in liquidation in Hong Kong
