James Franklin is counsel in the Finance Department of Latham & Watkins. Mr. Franklin’s practice focuses on project development and finance and other project-related transactions, particularly in the energy sector (including oil and gas, LNG, and power related matters). He also advises on a wide range of energy and natural resources-related M&A, private equity, and financing transactions.

  • Geothermal Power Assets, Indonesia – A consortium of confidential investors in their bid for the acquisition of Chevron’s geothermal power assets in Indonesia
  • Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Project, Indonesia – ADB, JBIC, NEXI, and the commercial bank lenders in the US$440 million project financing of the 80-MW Muara Laboh Geothermal Power Project in West Sumatra, Indonesia; this is one of the pioneer new generation geothermal projects undertaken under the Fast Track 2 program and one of the first projects to successfully negotiate the new agreed bankable form of government support under the Fast Track 2 program
