Profile Experience

Thomas W. Yeh is an associate in the Los Angeles office of Latham & Watkins and is a member of the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice. He has represented clients from complaint through trial in federal district court and the International Trade Commission. Mr. Yeh’s cases cover a wide range of technologies, including wireless communications, semiconductor devices, optics, medical devices and automotive technology. He also has experience with cases involving large volumes of source code and wireless standards.

Mr. Yeh has handled various aspects of both offensive and defensive complex litigation, including pre-suit investigations, fact and expert discovery, preparing and taking depositions, motions practice and trial. Mr. Yeh’s experience also includes internships at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the International Trade Commission.

Mr. Yeh graduated with high honors from The George Washington University Law School. He also served as an editor on the George Washington Law Review. Prior to law school, Mr. Yeh received degrees in electrical engineering and economics from Rice University.

Mr. Yeh's representative experience includes the following:

  • Samsung v. NVIDIA.  Represented NVIDIA in an eight patent case brought by Samsung in the Eastern District of Virginia.  Samsung dropped all but three patents prior to trial.  Mistrial on two patents due to misconduct by Samsung’s expert and jury verdict of non-infringement on all asserted claims. 
  • InterDigital v. ZTE. Representing InterDigital in a four patent case brought by InterDigital in the District of Delaware. Jury verdict of infringement and validity on all asserted claims.
  • Certain 3G Mobile Handsets and Components Thereof. Represented InterDigital in a two patent case brought by InterDigital in the International Trade Commission.  Trial conducted January 2015.  Initial determination finding violation by Microsoft and Nokia issued April 2015.  
  • Lugus IP LLC v. Volvo Car Corporation. Represented Volvo Car Corporation in a patent case brought by Lugus IP in the District of New Jersey. Obtained summary judgment of non-infringement on all asserted claims.
  • Secor View Technologies v. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC. Represented Jaguar Land Rover North America in a patent case brought by Secor View Technologies in the District of New Jersey. Obtained judgment of invalidity on all asserted claims.
  • Certain Wireless Devices with 3G and/or 4G Capabilities and Components Thereof. Representing InterDigital in a seven patent case brought by InterDigital in the International Trade Commission. Trial conducted February 2014.
  • Certain Wireless Devices with 3G Capabilities and Components Thereof. Representing InterDigital in a seven patent case brought by InterDigital in the International Trade Commission. Trial conducted February 2013.
  • Paice LLC v. Ford Motor Company. Representing Ford Motor Company in a five patent case brought by Paice LLC in the District of Maryland.
